Maya Rayburn
Maya Rayburn is a Care Team Member who joined the practice on September 29, 2025. She earned her Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from the Vet Tech Institute of Fox College and holds a Fear Free certification. Maya brings a calm, compassionate approach to every patient interaction, with a strong focus on comfort, trust, and thoughtful handling.
Her passion for veterinary medicine began at age 10, when she and her father rescued and bottle-fed a litter of two-week-old kittens from their neighborhood. That early experience, especially raising the kitten they named Dr. Ninja, sparked a lifelong interest in animal care. Today, Maya especially values being part of a supportive team that prioritizes Fear Free care and works together to ensure pets are never pushed beyond their limits. She finds the most fulfillment in supporting sick pets through their full workup and recovery, building lasting trust with both patients and their families.
Outside of the practice, Maya is deeply involved in animal rescue. She serves as the Medical Director for Chicago Rescue Authority and has fostered more than 75 dogs, with a special focus on senior, hospice, and complex medical cases. Maya and her boyfriend share their home with six dogs and four cats, all rescues. In her free time, she continues her rescue work and enjoys reading books by Freida McFadden and rewatching Grey’s Anatomy.
