Orthopedic Surgeries We Offer

Dr. Weber can perform various cat and dog orthopedic surgeries including:

  • Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO)
  • Fracture Repair
  • Extracapsular Lateral Suture Stabilization
  • Femoral Head Ostectomy

What Is TPLO Surgery?

Tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) is a surgical procedure designed to address cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injuries. When the CCL tears, the knee joint loses stability, leading to pain and an increased risk of further damage. To restore function, Dr. Weber makes an incision through the tibia, adjusts its angle, and secures it with plates and screws. This realignment stabilizes the joint, reducing excessive movement and minimizing discomfort. Dog TPLO surgery helps relieve pain and enables pets to regain normal weight-bearing on the affected leg.

Signs Your Pet May Require Orthopedic Care

Orthopedic conditions can cause your pet a lot of discomfort and interrupt their daily life. Look out for any of the following signs that may indicate your pet needs orthopedic surgery:

  • Trouble walking or noticeable limping
  • Signs of discomfort, including vocalizing, withdrawing, or reduced activity
  • Stiff movements or hesitation when using stairs, jumping, or running
  • Putting less weight on one leg or keeping it lifted

If you notice any of the behaviors above or have questions about your pet’s recovery post-op, contact Lane Veterinary at (630) 320-6644.
