Your Pet is in the Best Hands with Our Incredible Team

Lane Veterinary is so much more than a vet. In our hectic world, we want to make veterinary appointments feel less like an obligation and more like a visit with friends of the family. We are committed to giving you and your pet a wonderful experience, with Fear Free care and warm, concierge-style service.

We're the opposite of a corporate veterinary practice. Dr. Baker and her team are here to guide, educate, and support you and your pet through all your years of life together. Get to know them before your first appointment, and contact us at (630) 320-6644 if you have any questions!

Dr Sarah Baker With Her Brown Dog

Sarah Baker Veterinarian & Practice Owner

Dr. Baker loves animals, and she loves getting to know people and their families. Naturally, the veterinary profession was a perfect fit, allowing her to combine all her passions into one fulfilling career. She received her BS in zoology, her MPH, and her DVM from Ohio State University, and authored a handful of publications while working her way through vet school.

Since becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Baker has had all kinds of incredible experiences in the field. She enjoys internal medicine and dental workups and getting to be an integral part of the human-animal bond. She loves her team, patients, and clients, and is excited about building her vision from the ground up! Dr. Baker is known for keeping things positive, especially during the toughest moments. Being told “you can do hard things” always gives her a boost when she needs it most, because it’s something she tells her fellow team members, too.

Dr. Baker and her husband Chris have 2 wonderful children and a furry family of rescue pets. There’s a senior cat named Grace, a cat named Greta (her daughter’s best friend), a dog named Bluey (named after the cartoon character), and a Mastiff named Vida (she was rescued from the island of Antigua). A homebody at heart, Dr. Baker loves spending time with her family. She also enjoys taking the kids to their sports practices and games, exercising at Pure Barre, taking Bluey for walks, and having (rare) date nights with her husband.

Lauren Spinelli Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Spinelli is a dyed-in-the-wool Illini, having obtained both her bachelor’s and DVM from the University of Illinois in 2016 (and her wedding cake definitely had a big “I” for Illini on top!). She is in awe of medicine and the science that goes into it, and being able to help pets and their families while also developing her own interests and skills is everything she could possibly ask for in a career! Her favorite thing about being in veterinary medicine is working among individuals who share her passion for the human-animal bond. Dr. Spinelli also loves performing surgery and generally just being able to contribute her talent and share her enthusiasm with the team.

Dr. Spinelli spent nearly 7 years working at a walk-in veterinary practice before joining Lane; this gave her many unique and unexpected experiences! To this day, she loves learning and educating in equal measure.

Dr. Spinelli and her husband Stephen have 3 children and 2 dogs, one named Scarlet and a Doberman mix named Gratch. When she has free time, Dr. Spinelli enjoys being active with her family outdoors, along with running, lifting, and training for obstacle races.

Dr Lauren Beaird

Lauren Beaird Part Time DVM

Dr. Lauren’s journey to becoming a veterinarian began when, as a child, she would take walks through nature with her grandfather. During these walks, he would often share meaningful pearls of wisdom and as Dr. Lauren grew up, her love for nature and animals grew, too. In 2015, she graduated from the University of Illinois Champaign Urbana. Shortly after, her journey pivoted when her dog, Finn, was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma at age 6. This led Dr. Lauren down the road of learning how to integrate Western medicine with more natural treatments like acupuncture, targeted supplementation, and nutrition. In 2019, Dr. Lauren became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist through the Chi Institute. Exploring integrative medicine has uncovered new types of complementary therapies she’s excited to offer her patients.

Her goal as a veterinarian is to be a part of your pet’s care team, to serve you both, and to truly listen to your questions and concerns. She wants to be approachable, and for you to know she believes wholeheartedly in individualized care that reflects your pet’s unique lifestyle. Dr. Lauren once heard a colleague say, “Health travels up the leash,” and that couldn’t be truer. Creating happier, healthier pets can make their humans happier and healthier as well.

Dr. Lauren and her husband have 2 beautiful children who keep them laughing and learning (and incredibly busy). While becoming a vet is something she has always dreamed about, growing her family and raising children has truly made Dr. Lauren realize how fortunate she is, and how much she loves being a mom! She currently has no pets since losing Finn in 2022 and discovering that her oldest son has severe allergies, which she hopes to address before bringing another companion into the home.

Finn was Dr. Lauren’s best teacher, her most understanding patient, and her best friend. He walked alongside her through her entire veterinary education and during her first steps as a licensed veterinarian. Finn was the reason Dr. Lauren found an interest in integrative medicine, and she will continue learning about adjunctive treatments for pets.

In her free time, Dr. Lauren loves being outside; nature has always been her happy spot (and her sons love it too). She also enjoys crocheting, practicing watercolor, and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
